Fund for Teen Battling Cancer Nears 'Inspiring' Goal

Organizers of The Nickolas Anzalone Cancer Treatment Fund are brought to tears "daily" thanks to the "mind blowing" outpouring of support.

A local teen continues to "beat the odds" in his fight against aggressive bone cancer as community members continue to go above and beyond to help him, according to individuals organizing fundraising efforts for his recovery.

Over $3,500 was raised Saturday at an "inspiring" Atlantic Karate Movie Night for the Nickolas Anzalone Cancer Treatment Fund, which has soared past the halfway mark of its $20,000 goal in just one month thanks to the efforts of hundreds, according to the fund's Terri O'Brien-Finn.

The fund benefits Nickolas Anzalone, 13, of Hampton, and will likely pull in its largest donations yet Monday night during a special benefit auction featuring over $20,000 in items.

"Ok so we just got home from setting up the Auction," O'Brien-Finn posted on Sunday on the fund's Facebook and GoFundMe.com pages. "OMG.. and then some It was insane the stuff we had. the Auctioneer showed up to see the layout and could not believe the items we had. I need you all to know this is truely a NOT TO MISS EVENT!!!!!!"

Recently added to the auction are a Chis Kelly-signed Boston Bruins hockey stick and a "A Night to Remember" Boston Garden retirement night poster signed by 42 hockey legends. Tickets will be available at the door for Monday's event, which is helping O'Brien-Finn "see how actually wonderful people are."
"The work we have done for the Nickolas Anzalone Cancer
Treatment Fund has been honestly the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced," she said. "The total OUTPOURING that is taking place is totally mind blowing. People are genuinely good. We have so much giving of time, donation, money that it brings me to tears daily because i can not believe that people are just so giving. God bless them all and if you want to bring yourself to a more positive place in life... get involved with helping others it really shows you a lot about what is really important in life. Thank you all... your incredible!!!"
