Fourth Bacteria Advisory of Season Issued in North Hampton

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services issued Wednesday afternoon a bacteria advisory for North Hampton State Beach after sample testing revealed a fecal bacteria concentration higher than the state's limit.

The advisory is the fourth such alert in North Hampton this year. An advisory was issued for Bass Beach earlier this month, while two separate bacteria advisories were issued and subsequently lifted at North Hampton State Beach in June.

Additional testing will be conducted Thursday, and NHDES expects to have new results on Friday. The beach isn't closed, although officials do warn during beach advisories to take extra precautions, including washing hands and bathing, after going into the water.
