School Safety Forum Coming This Week

School officials want input from parents and community members about how they can make the Hampton public schools safer.

As part of an ongoing effort to make the Hampton schools safe for students, staff and the community, Hampton School District officials will hold a School Safety forum this week.

According to Kathy Tuck, the administrative assistant for SAU 90, the forum will be held on Thursday at Hampton Academy at 6:30 p.m. She said that parents, guardians and community members are all welcome to attend.

She said a second session will be held on Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. at the Marston School.

"Topics to be discussed will include procedures for fire drills, bus evacuation drills, lock downs, shelter in place, and school evacuation.  The school principals along with the school resource officer and the district’s facility director will facilitate discussion on the topics," Tuck wrote in a press release issued by the Superintendent Kathleen Murphy.

Tuck noted the Hampton School Board is seeking input from the community before finalizing and approving safety plans for the district and each of the school buildings.
