Hampton Trainer Donates $10K to Local Schools

Teachers also received a couple of free months of gym time as the owner of MaxEdge looks to transform local fitness.

Following the success of a demanding four-hour challenge that saw him perform 1,000 burpee pull-ups, the owner of MaxEdge Fitness Training recently presented a check to the Hampton School District for $10,000 to help the district's physical education program, according to a post on the business' Facebook page.

Jay Collins put himself through the workout on March 1 to raise funds to purchase functional conditioning equipment for the schools' physical education programs. MaxEdge thanked locals for their support during the successful event.

"A specials thank you goes to ALL that supported Jay's 1,000 Burpee Pull-Up Challenge! We could not have done it without you!" reads a message on the gym's Facebook page.

District gym teachers will be allowed to use MaxEdge for free for the next couple of months as part of a "'training' to help get them started" with utilizing some of the techniques from which local children could benefit, according to the business' Facebook page.
