Man Arrested in Seabrook Armed Robbery

Joseph L. Reardon allegedly robbed the Xtra Mart on Route 1 at gunpoint on Sunday.

Seabrook Police arrested a local man on Sunday for allegedly robbing the Xtra Mart at gunpoint.

According to a press release issued Monday, police received a call at 11:06 a.m. Sunday for a report of an armed robbery at the Xtra Mart on Route 1. The caller said a handgun was brandished by a masked subject, and the suspect fled with money in an unknown direction.

Seabrook Police responded and quickly set up a perimeter, and New Hampshire State Police also responded to the scene to assist with a K-9 search.

During the K-9 search, articles were recovered that police said were used in the commission of the crime. Located were the handgun which was brandished, along with clothing that matched what was seen in the surveillance video.

The suspect, Joseph L. Reardon, 22, of Seabrook was located shortly thereafter within the established perimeter, with the stolen money in his possession. He is charged with armed robbery, felon in possession of a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, and is being held on $15,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.
