Newington police say they are still investigating a truck versus pedestrian crash Friday that has claimed the life of a 75-year-old Hampton woman.

Lt. Scott Qualls said Ellen Busch passed away around 12:30 p.m. Sunday as a result of the injuries she suffered when she was struck by a blue Dodge 1500 pickup truck at about 7:11 p.m. Friday.

Busch was in the crosswalk in front of Old Navy in The Crossings at Fox Run when the truck, driven by Christopher Denen, 52, of York, Maine, hit her while traveling east toward Barnes and Noble on what police identify as the inner perimeter road, according to Qualls.

Denen hadn't been charged as of noon Monday, and Qualls said the case is still under investigation. He said investigators are "basically just looking at the vehicle" and "speaking with some witnesses that called in," and he said it isn't yet determined whether alcohol, drugs or speed played a factor in the incident.

"As far it potentially being a factor, I'm not sure," said Qualls. "There are no indications of [alcohol, drugs or speed] at the scene."

Busch was transported by a Newington Fire Department ambulance to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for undisclosed injuries after the accident.

Qualls asked anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash to contact him at 431-5461.
