Was Hampton Beach Murder Premeditated?

Two friends of Hampton Beach murder victim Robert "Bob" Roderick say that roommate Peter Bartoloni said he wanted to kill him.

But Maggie Gauron, who said she was Roderick's former roommate, and Nicole Belanger, who found Roderick's body along with her boyfriend inside of his Hampton Beach apartment after he had allegedly been killed with a sledgehammer, said they didn't believe Bartoloni was serious.

Bartoloni is charged with two counts of second degree murder after police say he hit Roderick in the head several times with a sledgehammer on Oct. 3. He has also been charged with failure to register as a sex offender with Hampton Police and is being held without bail at Rockingham County Jail.

Gauron and Belanger attended Bartoloni's arraignment in Seabrook District Court on Tuesday and talked with reporters after the hearing.

"I gave him a ride all of the time. We were very close friends " Gauron said of Roderick.

She said Roderick took Bartoloni in and allowed him to live at his apartment and even knew about his troubled past. Gauron does not believe Roderick suspected that Bartoloni may have wanted to kill him.
