Hampton Beach Murder Suspect Held Without Bail

A 70-year-old Hampton man charged with murdering his roommate with a sledgehammer was ordered held without bail on Tuesday morning.

Peter Bartoloni, 70, faces two counts of second degree murder for allegedly killing Robert Roderick, 56, of 19 M St., Apt. 2 on Oct. 3.

During a three-way video arraignment at the Seabrook 10th Circuit Court, Bartoloni appeared from the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley requested no bail for Bartoloni, and that request was granted by Judge Sawato Gardner. She also scheduled a probable cause hearing on Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. The affidavit for the second degree murder charges were also sealed.

Bartoloni was arraigned on Monday for failure to register as a sex offender with Hampton Police after moving to Hampton Beach more than five years ago, according to court documents.

Court documents show that Bartoloni was convicted as a Level 3 sex offender in Massachusetts in 1990 and that he last registered his status with the Lowell, Mass. Department before moving to Hampton Beach.
