Shaw's to Close One Seacoast Grocery Store

One of the national supermarket chain's several Seacoast locations will no longer exist by the beginning of September.

The Seabrook Shaw's supermarket will close by Sept. 2 along with five other New Hampshire Shaw's locations as part of an effort to increase overall company profitability, according to WMUR.

WMUR has reported that the Seabrook, Goffstown, Manchester, Tilton, West Lebanon and Keene locations "have not been profitable for some time." A Shaw's spokesman told WMUR that the closures "are not a result of the overall health of the company" and that the company doesn't have plans to close any of the other 28 New Hampshire locations, including the one in North Hampton.

The decision comes roughly one month after the chain announced it would end its rewards card program and cut prices across the company.
