Bernie's Bar & Grill at Hampton Beach Nears Completion

A lawyer for Al Fleury's new establishment on Ocean Boulevard says a certificate of occupancy likely issued within a week.

A certificate of occupancy is likely to be issued within a week for Bernie's Bar & Grill at 73 Ocean Boulevard in Hampton Beach, according to the proprietor's lawyer, who appeared before Hampton selectmen June 10 to discuss the project.

Owner Al Fleury is seeking to have the new business–on the site of the old La Bec Rouge–to be able to have entertainment until 1 p.m. That request would lift the 11 p.m. restriction that was on La Bec Rouge, and bring the establishment into alignment with similar businesses along the boulevard, according to his lawyer.

Richard Nichols, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, said the board would welcome Fleury back at its next meeting to discuss the requests because any modification in the entertainment hours would proceed an applicant first getting the certificate of occupancy – as well as associated assembly review by the fire department.
