Another North Hampton Restaurant Closes, But Not For Good

A new eatery on the northern end of Route 1 has shuttered it doors, although company officials say they're not out of business.

Several individuals have asked Hampton-North Hampton Patch recently about whether Ray's Lobster Landing, still in its maiden year in the old Drift Away/Abercrombie and Finch building, has gone out of business.

The lights have been off, the doors have been locked and the Facebook page for the business hasn't been viewable lately. This has led some to speculate that the northernmost tip of Route 1 has claimed another commercial casualty because the business is billed as being "open year round" on its signs and website.

When reached by e-mail Thursday, Katie Reardon, the restaurant's spokesperson, confirmed to Patch that the business is in fact still open, but that the "North Hampton location is closed for the season just as our beach location [in Rye] is as well."

There were no signs indicating that on the doors of the North Hampton location or on the answering machine messages for the company's North Hampton or Rye locations.

Reardon couldn't be reached for additional information Thursday.

Ray's Lobster Landing has been open since May 15 and is owned by Andy Widen, Reardon's father. Neighboring businesses told Patch that Ray's Lobster Landing closed for the season on Dec. 1 and that it aims to reopen at some point around April 2014, although that couldn't be confirmed Thursday.
