Share Your Cycle the Seacoast Photos!

The annual American Lung Association ride is Sunday morning.

The annual American Lung Association's Cycle the Seacoast, a 25-, 50- or 100-mile cycling event through the area to raise money for lung disease research and aid, starts Sunday morning. Many local individuals annually participate in or watch the festivities, which begin in Portsmouth. Among the year's inspiring local stories is that of Deb Smith, a Hampton resident and Seabrook teacher who was 58 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer despite never smoking a cigarette in her life. Smith's brothers, niece and two of Smith's friends will travel a 25-mile route Sunday while Smith, her sister and several friends will be on hand to greet the team. New Sex Charges Levied Against 'Predatory' Ex-Coach

Kenneth Kimber, accused of trying to have sex with a teenager, also allegedly brought a 14 year old to his home.

A new underage sex solicitation charge was added in court Tuesday against a former Hampton-area basketball coach and Portsmouth School Department worker accused of using a school computer to attempting to have sex with an underage girl. Kenneth Kimber, 34, of Portsmouth, was charged last month with soliciting sex from a 15-year-old girl. On Tuesday in Portsmouth District Court, he was also charged with soliciting sex from another girl who was 14 years old. "The court views your actions as predatory," Judge Sawako Garnder told Kimber during Tuesday's hearing before ordering him held on $15,000 cash and $15,000 personal recognizance bail. Kimber's attorney argued unsuccessfully for a lower bail amount. "He's not a danger to the community," …

Local Man Arrested on 2nd DWI After Snapping Utility Pole

A North Hampton man was allegedly drunk when he caused a lengthy power outage and road closure.

The Portsmouth Police Department arrested a North Hampton man for drunken driving following a single-vehicle crash that damaged two utility poles on Saturday night and closed a portion of Lafayette Road in Portsmouth for more than three hours. Kevon F. Hughes, 45, of 34 Lafayette Road in North Hampton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, second offense, according to Portsmouth Police Sgt. Kuffer Kaltenborn. According to police, Hughes was convicted of his first DWI offense in July 2003 in Portsmouth Circuit Court. According to police, Hughes was driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup truck south on Lafayette Road shortly before 9 p.m. As his vehicle approached the Rye town line, police say the pick-up veered right, travelled onto the …

Hampton-Area Teens Wanted in Connection to Massive Burglary

Over $15K in property was allegedly stolen in Hampton Monday by suspects also connected to thefts in Portsmouth and Rye.

The Hampton Police Department is turning to the public for help in locating teens from Hampton and North Hampton wanted in connection to a large Falcone Circle burglary as well as other crimes in the Seacoast area. Jacob Penney, 17, of 5 Walnut Street in North Hampton, is wanted on a warrant for burglary and receiving stolen property, and Ryan Kelley, 18, of 340 Lafayette Road, Unit 402, in Hampton, is wanted on a warrant for receiving stolen property, according to Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley. Gidley said all of the charges are Class B felonies and carry a possible sentence of 3 1/2 to 7 years in state prison. Hundreds packed The Page Sports Bar and Restaurant in downtown Portsmouth Wednesday night to get a few moments with hockey Hall of Famer and former Boston Bruins captain Ray Bourque. Over 200 individuals paid to get an up-close glimpse of Bourque in addition to an autograph from the legendary defenseman during the special event, which helped raise money for charity. Hundreds more, from lifelong fans to young puckheads that weren't even alive when Bourque played his last game in the National Hockey League in 2001, came out just to watch Bourque from afar and celebrate a Bruins team that currently sits near the top of the standings.
