DWI Trial Begins Wed. for Beach Official

Jude David was allegedly intoxicated when she allegedly hit a parked vehicle at a downtown Hampton restaurant.

Xtra Mart Robber Thwarted by Power Outage

Police have released a description of a man who attempted to rob the convenience store Thursday while the power was out.

Hampton police are looking to the public for help in identifying and locating a man who unsuccessfully attempted to rob a Route 1 convenience store during Thursday night's power outage. Lt. Dan Gidley said a man wearing a black mask and a black-and-white hooded, zip-up sweatshirt attempted to rob Xtra Mart, which was closed due to a high wind-related power outage, at about 8:10 p.m. Thursday. The suspect, described as about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, confronted the clerk in the doorway of the store and stated he had a gun while demanding the clerk open Xtra Mart's safe, according to Gidley. Bus Window Smashed by Teen Trying to 'Scare' Classmate

A retaliatory action involving a Winnacunnet High School school bus is under police investigation.

Police say no one was hurt when an 18-year-old Winnacunnet High School student recently punched through a school bus window, although authorities are still conducting an official investigation into the minor incident. Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley said details of the incident were limited Thursday afternoon, but he was able to say that a male student accidently punched through a parked school bus while trying to get the attention of a juvenile on the bus. "One kid said something or did something, and the [18 year old] reached up to the window to try to scare him, and the window broke," said Gidley. "It wasn't done intentionally." Hampton Beach Official's DWI Trial Set for February

A local woman serving in multiple roles at Hampton Beach is facing DWI and conduct after an accident charges.

UPDATE: The driving while intoxicated and conduct after an accident charges against Jude David have been dropped, although the Seafood Festival chairwoman has been ordered to pay a $100 fine for bumping a parked car, according to this report.   The chairwoman of the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival will head to trial next month on charges alleging she was intoxicated while striking a parked vehicle at the 401 Tavern last fall. Jude David, who also is the state parks facilities manager for Hampton Beach, has already entered a not guilty plea to driving while intoxicated and conduct after an accident charges. David's trial on the Class B misdemeanor charges will begin on Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. in Hampton District Court, according to court staff. …

Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In After K-9 Unit Search

Multiple police agencies had unsuccessfully searched Hampton for a man wanted in connection to a Portsmouth robbery.

[Editor's note: This is an updated version of the original story.]   A Hampton man has turned himself in a day after eluding multiple police agencies and a K-9 unit attempting to bring in him on a felony warrant. Steven Darling, 26, of Hampton, was wanted in connection to an unarmed robbery in Portsmouth, according to Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley. Darling reportedly turned himself in to Portsmouth police at 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to sources close to the department. Gidley said Thursday that officers from the Hampton Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police, including a K-9 unit, searched Tuesday afternoon for Darling in the area of High Street and George Avenue, which is near Hampton Academy and Marston School. Mechanic Dies After Heart Attack at Accident Scene

Bob Hendry, a North Hampton tow truck operator, passed away during a sudden heart attack at an accident scene Friday.

Hampton paramedics were unable to revive a local man who suffered a sudden heart attack during the process of towing a vehicle that struck the building containing Hoaty's during an accident Friday morning. Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley has confirmed reports that Bob Hendry, 72, the owner of Bob Hendry Automotive in North Hampton, passed away mid-Friday morning after responding to tow a vehicle that went over the curb and struck the Hoaty's building. Gidley said the individual called Hendry for a private tow — Hendry isn't on the Hampton Police Department's tow list because he's based out of North Hampton — after the accident, which allegedly involved one driver cutting off another driver at the intersection of Lafayette Road and Ann's Lane…

Mother, Son Waive Arraignment on Drug Charges

A local mother and son who allegedly sold drugs together out of their home will soon be scheduled for probable cause hearings.

Terri Lynn and Michael Walker, a Hampton mother and son facing a variety of drug distribution and possession charges, have waived their respective Wednesday morning arraignments in Hampton District Court, according to court staff. Terri Lynn Walker, 48, and Michael Walker, 24, both of 33 Town Drive, have each been charged with numerous felony and misdemeanor counts in connection to an undercover Hampton Police Department operation that allegedly revealed the Walkers were selling marijuana and hashish out of their Town Drive home. New Drug Charges Filed Against Mother-Son Duo

Numerous felony and misdemeanor counts have been added against two Hampton residents due in court Wednesday.

A mother and son accused of selling marijuana and hashish out of their Town Drive home will face new felony charges when they're arraigned in Hampton District Court on Wednesday, according to court staff. Terri Lynn Walker, 48, and Michael Walker, 24, both of 33 Town Drive in Hampton, were each arrested on Nov. 15 on a single count of felony-level possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, although court staff said Monday that the Hampton Police Department has filed additional charges against the Walkers. Terri Walker now faces two additional felony possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute charges, a Class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled drug charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, …

Police Announce Road Closures for Christmas Parade

Route 1 will be closed, and numerous side streets will be affected Saturday.

By Lt. Dan Gidley Hampton Police Department   The Hampton Police Department wants to notify the public about a road closure and parking restriction that will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2012. Route 1 (Lafayette Rd) will be closed to through traffic from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday December 1, 2012 from Park Avenue to the North Hampton town line. Detours and road closed signs will be in place to assist motorists with alternate routes. Expect traffic delays and plan ahead. Parking in the center of town will be restricted after 11:00am. All vehicles must be moved off of Lafayette Road from High Street to Swain Court on both sides of the road in preparation for the Christmas Parade.
