A minor fuel spill near 1 Ocean Blvd. Thursday morning prompted quick response from area safety officials to mitigate the spill's spread into Hampton River. Hampton Fire Capt. Justin Cutting said the department was alerted of a fuel spill between the state pier and Ocean Wok at 9:09 a.m. Thursday after residents reported seeing rainwater wash a sheen of fuel down the roadway, onto the boat ramp and into the water. Cutting said the wet roadway and rain made it difficult to determine how much fuel was spilled, although he said he "would categorize it as a minor spill" and said it didn't "warrant any major cleanup measures."
