About 725 supporters came to Pinkerton Academy to see the Republican vice presidential candidate.
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan knows how important New Hampshire is to the outcome of this year’s election, and he didn’t hesitate to send that message to a crowd of supporters at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. “A handful of states will settle this election,” Ryan said. “You are the Granite State. You have an enormous responsibility and you have an enormous opportunity.” A crowd of 725 supporters squeezed into the school’s field house, with at least a hundred stationed on rows of bleachers behind Ryan with a sign above reading, “We can’t afford four more years.” Ryan told those in attendance that they are faced with two possible outcomes for the future of the United States, and the choice is clear. “It’s not too late to get …

The gubernatorial hopeful said other issues are "more important."
Ovide Lamontagne is running for governor in the hopes of bringing strong leadership to the Granite State, and one of the problems he said he sees with current leadership is a weak focus on the big issues. The Manchester resident and former U.S. senatorial candidate said during a campaign stop in Hampton on Thursday there needs to be a greater focus on issues like the economy, job creation and reducing business regulations, and not social issues like gay marriage. Lamontagne, a supporter of "traditional marriage," said the marriage equality issue isn't a "top priority" to him, as he said he doesn't think it's something that concerns residents as much as seeing a resolution to many issues he said have been created in part by Gov. John Lynch'…

Submitted by Dustin Marzinzik Hampton selectman candidate As a candidate for Hampton Selectman, I have attended and participated in all forums and debates to which I have been invited, as well as attended forums that had nothing to do with my candidacy. I am passionate about this town and all that it encompasses. Our family includes four generations that live in Hampton and have attended Hampton Schools. My intentions for running for Selectman are for the best interest of the Town of Hampton and its residents. With that comes fiscal responsibility. I feel my focus on capital improvements has been nothing but fiscally responsible. Setting a timetable is the most fiscally responsible thing to do when maintaining a municipality; whether …

By Denyse Richter Incumbent Winnacunnet School Board candidate My name is Denyse Richter, and I am running for reelection as the Hampton rep. to WHS school board. My record shows that I have been committed and focused on improving learning and student achievement at WHS, and I have been resolute in the absolute necessity for “excellence” in education. I have been a strong and vocal advocate for all children and taxpayers of the Winnacunnet Cooperative District. Before serving on the WHS board, I served on my local district school board in Hampton for three years which gives me added invaluable experience and perspective. While on the board, I made informed decisions and have openly and respectfully challenged the status quo. I have asked…

Two candidates are tired of the alleged dysfunction.
Two of the candidates for the Hampton Budget Committee say the current board isn't putting enough stock into the work and word of the town's department heads and said a change is needed to help improve the "circus-like" atmosphere surrounding the town budgeting process. Vic DeMarco and Diandra Sanphy outlined many of their views, which at times were similar, during a special candidates debate on Saturday — a debate which was organized by the Hampton Democrats and moderated by WinnaWire and Hampton-North Hampton Patch. DeMarco and Sanphy are each running for the one-year term up for grabs at the Tuesday, March 13, town and school election balloting. None of the candidates running for the four three-year budget committee seats — incumbents …

The following is an opinion piece/letter to the editor submitted by a group of residents. To the Editor, We are submitting this letter in support of Chris Muns for the at large seat on the Winnacunnet School Board. We know Chris to be honest, intelligent and hardworking and we are confident he will take the time to really understand all the various issues facing Winnacunnet High School and it's students. As a longtime resident of Hampton and having had both his children recently graduate from Winnacunnet, Chris is very familiar with the community, the high school and it's needs. He has demonstrated over many years working in the private sector as well as on various community projects here on the seacoast, that he is a team player who is…

By Tamara Le North Hampton School Board candidate Dear Neighbor – I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Tamara Le and I am proud to announce I am running for election to the North Hampton School Board. In North Hampton, we want the best for all of our children. We want the best for the tax-paying public. We want to be a successful community. Achieving these goals takes hard work, strong leadership and priorities that reflect: Recent events regarding the NHS school board’s attempt to cut the Full Time Occupational Therapist (a 29-year veteran of our school) from the budget and subsequently over-budget several other line items, forced me to ask them some tough questions. I do not believe they had our children’s best interest at …

By Chris Singleton At-Large Winnacunnet Budget Committee candidate I am running for the at-large seat on the Winnacunnet Budget Committee to help improve the education of our children, and our community as a whole. Education is one of the most important things we can focus on and to do it in today’s economy, you must balance education with economics. Finding the right balance is not always easy, yet I believe that my experience as a WHS and Hampton School Board member for 15 years combined has given me a unique view as to what is truly important for our children’s education. During my time as School Board member, I also served on the WHS Budget committee. I understand how the process works, and will speak up for what is best for our …
