Five Things to Do This Weekend

A golf tournament, a special garden event, a restaurant's appearance on TV, a harbor volunteer effort and music top the Mother's Day weekend offerings.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some ideas (and be sure to tell us about the things you did and show us the pictures you took by e-mailing Editor Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com):

1. Get a Hole in One While You Help Pay for Lots of Fun: Bad rhymes aside, the Chem Free Committee is hosting a golf tournament Saturday morning in Portsmouth to raise money for a drug-free, after-graduation celebration for local students.

2. : Friday is a national holiday celebrating gardens, and more importantly the volunteers who help make them look so great at no cost to the towns.

There will be special displays at some of the many local gardens in the area to celebrate, and Sen. Nancy Stiles, R-Hampton, is one of many visitors expected to visit the gardens as a part of National Public Garden Day.

3. Celebrate a TV Premiere With a Local Restaurant: will be featured on "The Chef's Plate" on WBIN-TV (Channel 18) at 3 p.m. Saturday, and the North Hampton restaurant is throwing a party to celebrate.

Drift Away will run food and $1-off drink specials until 6 p.m. during the party, which will including "The Chef's Plate" hosts Helen Ryba and Scott Franz. Restaurant staff said on Facebook they "had a lot of fun filming" the episode, and are looking forward to having fun with residents this weekend.

4. Get Your Claws Dirty to Help Local Fishermen: The 16th annual begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, and anyone with a lobster trap license of any kind is invited to join in the effort.

More than 50 commercial fishermen helped clean 10 tons of lobster traps and gear during last year's effort.

The event will take place in both Rye Harbor and the Hampton Harbor State Marina. The cleanup is sponsored by the New Hampshire Commercial Fishermen's Association, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, the New Hampshire Division of Ports and Harbors, and Hampton Public Works Department, as well as the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Blue Ocean Society and New Hampshire Sea Grant.

5. Buy Some Tickets for An Upcoming Concert: Like Govt Mule, Matisyahu or KoRn? If so, tickets for those Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom shows .

If you're looking for a concert to go to this weekend, Dokken is playing the Ballroom Friday night with Firehouse.

It's also Mother's Day this Sunday. How do you plan on showing mom that you care? Tell us about it, and anything else you plan to do this weekend, in the comments!
