Xtra Mart Armed Robber Held on $25K Bail

The 22-year-old Seabrook man has several convictions on his record, and is soon due back in court for three new felony charges.

A judge increased the bail amount Tuesday for the suspect in Sunday's Seabrook convenience store armed robbery.

Joseph Reardon, 22, of Seabrook, was ordered held on $25,000 cash-only bail during a video arraignment Tuesday in Hampton District Court. Reardon was originally held on $15,000 bail, although the bail was increased due to the nature of the offense as well as the fact that Reardon has been convicted for similar crimes in the past.

Reardon was charged with felony armed robbery, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, and a Class A misdemeanor count of resisting arrest Sunday after police received a report at 11:06 a.m. Sunday about a masked man brandishing a handgun at the Seabrook Xtra Mart.

Reardon fled with money in an unknown direction, although he was apprehended after Seabrook and New Hampshire State police found him hiding with the money in a nearby tree. The handgun used during the crime and the clothing worn by the suspect were also found near the scene.

A felony count of reckless conduct was added against Reardon before Tuesday's arraignment, according to court staff. Reardon is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on his three felony charges at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Court staff told Patch that Reardon was charged in connection to a theft in Seabrook in 2009, as well as the fact that he was convicted on at least three crimes in Seabrook in 2010, including a shoplifting charge and a driving while intoxicated charge.
