Multiple People Reportedly Struck Near Route 1A Bridge

A race was reportedly interrupted Saturday morning after multiple individuals were struck along the bridge, which is currently closed.

UPDATE: Two individuals have been pronounced dead. 

ORIGINAL STORY [9:30 a.m.]: The Neil Underwood Memorial Bridge was closed Saturday morning after multiple individuals were struck by a vehicle around 9 a.m., according to emergency radio communications.

Emergency radio communications indicated five ambulances were dispatched to the area around the Route 1A bridge. The individuals injured were allegedly participants in a bike race through the area.

There also was reportedly an injury involving a bicyclist in Rye around the same time.

Two lanes of traffic, cyclists.....it's a tight situation there. It was a matter of time before someone was injured. Hope the cyclists are ok.
