Man to Plead Out, Avoid Trial in 'Soiled Diaper' Deception Case

Eric Carrier, 24, tried to trick a caregiver in Hampton into changing a soiled diaper as part of a sexual fetish.

A man accused of pretending to have a brain injury to get female caregivers to change his soiled diapers as part of a sexual fetish has agreed to a plea deal on his latest transgression in order to avoid trial in superior court, according to the Union Leader.

Details of the plea deal — which isn't yet approved by a judge — and sentence for Eric Carrier, 24, of Hooksett, hasn't yet been released, although the Union Leader has reported the man will receive a fully negotiated disposition on one count of attempted indecent exposure and lewdness.

Carrier could've faced 3 1/2 to seven years in state prison had he been convicted on the charge, for which he was indicted in January. A plea and sentencing hearing has been set for April 30 in Rockingham Superior Court, according to court staff.

Carrier allegedly solicited the aid of an in-home caregiver in Hampton using Craigslist in September.

Police have said Carrier used Craigslist to find "an unsuspecting adult care giver who would work with a disabled adult male." Carrier allegedly posed as a 22-year-old man who could not control his bowel movements due to a brain injury. He indicated that he required assistance changing soiled undergarments, which police later found to be part of a sexual fetish.

On Sept. 12, Carrier allegedly met with a female adult caregiver in Hampton and asked her to change his soiled diaper. The woman became suspicious and notified police.

Investigators said they later learned that Carrier was actually 24 years old and not disabled. They also learned that he had been arrested in 2011 in Hooksett for a similar offense, and was convicted of indecent exposure in July 2012.

During their investigation, police said they also learned that Carrier had committed similar crimes in the past. The Union Leader has reported police can't go forward with those cases because they are beyond the statute of limitations.
