Man Gets 2nd DWI After Taking Out Dealership Sign, Striking Cars

A Newburyport, Mass., man has been released on bail after causing significant damage Thursday night to a local car dealership while driving drunk.

A Newburyport, Mass., man has been released on bail after causing significant damage to a local car dealership while driving drunk.

Jesse Belanger, 29, was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense) in connection to the incident, which occurred at about 10:03 p.m. Thursday at R&G Auto on Lafayette Road in Hampton Falls, according to Hampton Falls Police Lt. Tom Boynton.

Boynton said Belanger's vehicle allegedly struck the "large" sign at the edge of the small plaza containing the business, in addition to striking "several of the cars for sale at the dealership."

Blood test results are pending for Belanger, according to Boynton.

Belanger is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 9 in Hampton District Court.

The Kensington Police Department assisted at the scene and with the investigation, according to Boynton.
