Governor Directs Flags to Half-Staff to honor Boston Firefighters

New Hampshire honors the two Boston firefighters who died battling a nine-alarm fire March 26.

Gov. Maggie Hassan directed flags to half-staff until sundown March 27 to honor of Lt. Edward J. Walsh and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy, the Boston firefighters who died battling a nine-alarm fire in Boston yesterday.

Hassan statement on their loss:

"New Hampshire sends our thoughts and prayers to the family and loved ones of Lieutenant Walsh and Firefighter Kennedy of the Boston Fire Department and to everyone impacted by yesterday’s devastating fire in Boston. Lieutenant Walsh and Firefighter Kennedy bravely rushed into the flames and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their fellow citizens, demonstrating a truly heroic commitment to public service. This moment is a tragic reminder that all of our first responders courageously risk their lives every day to ensure public safety, and we owe them a never-ending debt of gratitude."
