Reported Car Chase was 'Misunderstanding,' Police Say

Police involved in a standoff in Hampton Falls were notified of the incident.

Hampton Falls police involved in a standoff Tuesday were notified after a reported Exeter car chase that turned out to be a "misunderstanding."

Around 6:45 p.m., Hampton Falls police said they received word of a chase that started in Exeter.

Exeter police Sgt. Steven Bolduc said the incident was a routine traffic stop and not a chase. The driver of the vehicle was a foreigner who stopped for police near the Route 95 tolls in Hampton and allowed to continue without incident.

"It was a misunderstanding," Bolduc said.
