Mutual aid crews were called in early Sunday morning as Hampton firefighters worked to knock down flames in a Josephine Drive ranch, according to emergency radio communications.

Reports first came in around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a fire at 29 Josephine Drive, and a first alarm was struck for the 24-foot-by-40-foot home. The bulk of the fire was knocked down a short time later, according to emergency radio communications.

Tax records indicate that the home is owned by David Mattson, a Hampton Fire Department captain.

WMUR has reported that all four individuals inside the house were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. The home was "unlivable" Sunday after half of it was "heavily damaged" during the fire, according to WMUR.

A reader told Hampton-North Hampton Patch that emergency radio traffic indicated that "heavy" fire was showing when crews arrived on scene.
