Vote for Article 7

North Hampton Citizens:

Mr. Kilgore's complaint about the programming on Channel 22 has less to do about programming and more to do with the fact that he doesn't want you, the voters in North Hampton, to be informed about why you should vote for Article 7. The fact is that this project will cost less than any of the other alternatives we have. If we do nothing, we spend $9.5 million. If we relocate the public safety facility to Route 1, we have to pay a premium for the land and we take it off the tax rolls. If we renovate, we'll spend between $6.5 million and $7.5 million, pay for temporary facilities we don't have to pay for, and continue to throw good money after bad buildings.

Yes, the project will impact your taxes. So will doing nothing. Tackling this problem "in phases" will ultimately mean a lot more in expenditure because interest rates and building materials will cost more over time. No one wants to spend money, but this is something that has to be done and we should do it in the most cost effective way. I have been on your Budget Committee of 10 years. We must address the sad state of our public buildings.  Voting for Article 7 is the best way to spend our money wisely.

For the record, the Channel 22 program is not edited. It is a copy of the presentation given at Deliberative Session. Mr. Kilgore did not object to it at Deliberative Session ... mainly because he wasn't there. Channel 22 is an educational and governmental channel. Its whole purpose is to make sure that those of you who could not attend Deliberative Session can nevertheless see what information was presented. You have the option to watch the whole 6 hours, or you can watch the Town Campus presentation.

Let's be frank  about Mr.  Kilgore. He doesn't want this project in his own back yard. The problem is that the Town Campus is already in his own back yard. Get the facts about the project. Watch the program. Ask questions. That's what Channel 22 is for.
