Article 7 Mis Conduct

I am absolutely and totally irate about what I am watching on Channel 22 in North Hampton.  Per my letter on Monday about the fairness of the Article 7 process, my concerns are now even more relevant.

Mr. Paul Apple and this Select Board are now running an “Infomercial” for the municipal complex on the Public and Educational Channel for North Hampton.  To the point in my previous post: The complex opposition has faced a $60,000 budget, a Full Time Town Administrator, a Town Website and now INFORMERCIALS on our Channel 22.  The opposition has not had the same resources to voice our concerns or objections.  With that in mind, the Board and our Administrator have now reached a new low.

This Infomercial is an edited presentation from the North Hampton Town Deliberative Session from February 1st, 2014.  The video has an introduction from the Town Administrator, Mr. Paul Apple, with the Seal of North Hampton beside him.  The Administrator then presents a 45 plus minute commercial for the North Hampton Town Complex.

Nowhere is there an opposing view, a rebuttal or an objection to the project.  This is an edited presentation outlining what the Select Board is proposing for the Town of North Hampton.  Having watched the Deliberative Session on channel 22 I know that there were many informed questions by the citizens of our town for and against the project.  Nowhere was this showcased in tonight’s broadcast.

While there are many issues with this Infomercial, the biggest is that a sitting Selectman, Mr. Phil Wilson, is running for reelection.  The Complex is his project and he is the main proponent of it.  His opposing candidate is not in favor of the complex.  How can this not be considered a political advertisement for the sitting Selectman?  I am outraged as a citizen, voter and member of the North Hampton Cable Advisory Committee that oversees channel 22.

Mr. Wilson and the Board are using North Hampton 22 to run a political advertisement for their position without giving the opposition equal time and resources.  As I stated earlier, this Board is acting without regard to casual and normal town discourse and has been acting with a strict political agenda.  Town resources should not be used to advertise a specific political campaign.

The Select Board and the Town Administrator should be ashamed.
