John A. Yell Jr.: Former Police Officer, Navy Vet, Family Man

Yell, 71, was also a custodian at Seabrook Middle School for 10 years before his retirement.

John A. Yell, Jr., 71, a longtime resident of Seabrook, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Amesbury, Mass., November 26, 1942 a son of the late John A. and Evelyn (Bailey) Yell.

Mr. Yell was a veteran serving with the US Navy and later with the Army Reserves.

He was employed as a custodian at Seabrook Middle School for 10 years retiring in 2000. In his earlier years he served as a police officer for the town of Seabrook.

Most important to John was his love and passion for all his grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed lobster fishing and was a member of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post 70.

Family members include six children, John Swart and wife Betty, Yvonne Colin and John all of Seabrook, Keith Swart and wife Rachelle of Holly Springs, NC, Yvette Bradley of Seabrook, Daniel Yell and Kim of Amesbury, Mass., Karen Maynard of Seabrook, twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two brothers, Wayne Yell and wife Joycelyn of Amesbury, Mass., Edward Yell of Seabrook, his sister, Raylene Tetreault of Conn. and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Yell and his grandson, Little Robby Moore, Jr.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will immediately follow at 7 P.M. in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
