Ed Johnson, Co-Founder of Pease Greeters, Dies at 84

Johnson served in the Korean War and earned several awards.

Ed Johnson, a decorated Korean War veteran who helped create the Pease Greeters, died Monday at the age of 84. The cause was breast cancer, according to his obituary.

Johnson served as president of the Pease Greeters, which welcomes troops passing through the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease. He received a commendation from President George W. Bush for his work.

Johnson served in Korea as a Marine infantry captain, according to his obituary. He earned a Silver Star and a Navy commendation for his service.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Anne, and three daughters.
