Calling Hours Sunday for Pease Airman Who Died Overseas

David Poirier died Feb. 28 while serving in the US Air Force.

David L. Poirier, age 52 of Salem, NH, died Friday, Feb. 28th in Al Udeid AB, Qatar, while serving in the US Air Force.

He was born in Woonsocket, RI, grew up and was educated in Blackstone, MA, where he graduated from Blackstone-Millville Regional High School. Dave served in the Air Force for 22 years and was a MSGT for the 157th Air Refueling Wing, New Hampshire Air National Guard.

Dave was Post Master for the Town of Atkinson, NH. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson, fishing, camping, modified racing, performing magic tricks and family card games. Most of all, Dave’s family came first and he loved spending time with them. Dave was very proud of his country and was very proud to serve.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helene and Robert Poirier.

He is survived by his wife Kim (Nelson) Poirier of Salem, NH.

Children: Andrew Poirier of Concord, NH, Nicole Poirier of Newmarket, NH, and Bradley Poirier of Steamboat Springs, CO.

Step Children: Kevin Forzese of Exeter, NH and Dillon Forzese of Boston, MA.

Brothers: Robert and his wife Lou-Ann Poirier of Loudon, NH, Charles and his wife Jeanne Poirier of No. Smithfield, RI, John and his wife Michelle Poirier of Harrisville, RI, and Kenneth and his wife Anne Poirier of No. Smithfield, RI and many nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren: Eliana, Kai, and Olivia Forzese.

Step father: Charles Caine of Matunuck, RI.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 9th from 3-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. Funeral services will be private for the family. Friends are invited to graveside services with military honors on Monday at 12:30 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
