Jack-O'-Lanterns to Light Up Downtown Tonight

Free fun and activities, as well as entertainment and local food, are among some of the Halloween festivities tonight.

A variety of activities, crafts and entertainment are planned tonight as downtown Hampton celebrates Halloween and North Hampton celebrates trick or treat night.

Hampton's annual Spirit Night, hosted by the Hampton Parks and Recreation Department and Experience Hampton, is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Marelli Square Gazebo in the middle of Depot Square.

Residents are asked to bring jack-o'-lanterns to the event in order to help illuminate downtown with Halloween spirit. A live band, a magician, and a Halloween craft-making session at Marelli's Market are among some of the many family-friendly activities planned for Spirit Night, which will also feature food from local restaurants.

Spirit Night comes one day before Hampton's trick or treat night, which is held each year on Oct. 31.

North Hampton's trick or treat is Wednesday night, as are many other area towns' trick or treat nights.

The Hampton Parks and Recreation Department is also partnering with Lane Memorial Library on Thursday to throw a trick or treat parade through the library and Town Hall from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday.

"Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and prepare to make some fun stops at both destinations," according to the rec department. "The parade steps off from the old town hall municipal parking lot at 4 p.m.; participants should plan on meeting there a few minutes early."
