Chamber Gives $63K to Rotary at Newly-Renovated Soup Kitchen

The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce gave the rotary the fund "for their tireless efforts" at Seafood Festival.

By the Rotary Club of Hampton

Rotary Club of Hampton members convened at St. Vincent's Soup Kitchen on Oct. 15 in celebration of accepting a check for almost $63,000 from the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce for their tireless efforts in collecting admissions at the Seafood Festival this past September.

The opportunity of being able to do so much for our community is made possible thanks to the chamber entrusting our organization to being the greeters to the Seafood Festival each year, to collecting the admissions and welcoming our local neighbors, friends and tourists from across the state and country. It is all made possible from the many hours of volunteerism from our members, their families and our many friends of Rotary.

Filling our food pantries, preparing and serving warm meals from October through May at the soup kitchen, supporting local reading programs at Head Start, Village Preschool, Marston School's "I Read 100 Books," summer reading programs, Read to Me Program, designed to educate parents/caregivers of the importance of reading to newborns and toddlers, scholarships to WHS graduates, scholarships to 10 sophomores to Rotary Youth Leadership camp each year, support of Interact clubs, End 68 Hours of Hunger, Chucky's Fight (educating youth and parents to the dangers of drug/alcohol abuse, supporting boy scouts, girl scouts, Eagle Scout projects, the homeless, and the list goes on and on each year.

The members of the Hampton Rotary Club are proud to serve our local community each and every day, week after week in every given year.
Thank you, Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce for giving us the opportunity to making a difference, for helping us to change lives for the better in our local community.
