After Red Sox Win, Pitch Made to Bring Trophy to Hampton

Boston has won another championship. Can Hampton secure another Christmas Parade visit by a championship trophy?

The Boston Red Sox won their third World Series in the past 10 seasons Wednesday night after a resounding 6-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6, and Hampton officials want to help the team celebrate.

Experience Hampton Inc. and residents of the beachside New Hampshire town are reaching out to players and team officials in an attempt to bring yet another New England professional sports trophy to the annual Hampton Christmas Parade, which will take place in December.

Boston Bruins alumni accompanied the Stanley Cup through Hampton during the 2011 parade after the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 to capture their first championship since 1972.

The Cup's appearance drew thousands and thousands of people to Hampton and helped Experience Hampton raise $14,000 for local charities, and Experience Hampton President John Nyhan is hoping for similar results this year.

"We all know it is going to take more than just a invitation to make this happen," said Nyhan in a statement. "So I am reaching out to all for recommendations, who do you know, do you have any friends that can help, how can we get to some decision makers etc etc,,,. I would ask all members to share their thoughts and any potential leads with the EHI Board and we will follow up."

Experience Hampton will also make a contribution to the Jimmy Fund as part of the local charity efforts this year.

Dan "Desi" Lanio, the owner of the 401 Tavern, played a key role in securing the Stanley Cup's presence in 2011, and Nyhan is asking any locals with even the slightest connection to the Red Sox to reach out in some way.

"If we all put our heads together and work as one community on this effort hopefully we will have the same success as we did (Thank You DESI) in 2011 with the Stanley Cup," said Nyhan.
