Trashing North Hampton State Beach

Happy Earth Day. Summer hasn't even started yet, but while walking on our beautful beach tonight we saw several pieces of trash from Beach Plum ice cream eaters tossed off the wall onto the sand.  Who does this?  Why do people think it is okay to eat ice cream and then throw their styrofoam cups and plastic spoons onto the beach?  We even now have large trash receptacles right behind them, so there is no excuse. Styrofoam is non-biodegradable.  It appears to last forever, as it is resistant to photolysis, or the breaking down of materials by protons originating from a light source. This, combined with the fact that Styrofoam is lightweight and therefore floats, means that over time a great deal of polystyrene has accumulated along coasts and waterways around the world. It is now considered the main component of marine debris.
And of course, the new restrooms are already covered with graffiti.  Don't worry...be happy.
