Will The Real Senator Stiles Step Forward?

I think that Senator Stiles is a “political schizophrenic”--“Seacoast Stiles” and “State House Stiles”.

In the district her desired image is the consummate public servant–reasonable, a good listener, sympathetic and practical. Once in Concord the Senator becomes the consummate politician--partisan, an ideologue, special interest loyalist and disconnected. At home she poses as a moderate in Concord she acts as an extremist. How she votes is how she should be judged.

Her car must have a “flux incapacitor” which takes her “back to the past” by the time she reaches Concord. It also erases what she has said and heard at home. So much for her “I’m-here-to-listen” mantra.

Whether it is school vouchers, background checks for gun purchasers, stand your ground, right to work or the expansion of Medicaid her position depends on her location and the need of a party line vote. Senator Stiles talks, locally, about what’s good for the state but “in chambers” votes for minority interests and what is best for the Republican party.

I find it odd that our Senator thinks her GPS is a better guide for her actions than the public opinion in her district.

It would certainly be refreshing to have a representative who states a position prior to the vote and is willing to discuss it publicly allowing the voters a chance to influence her.

Apparently, any kind of public debate is not part of either of Senator Stiles’ political personalities.
