Qualifier for the Lobster Roll Eating Competition Tonight

McGuirk's Ocean View Restaurant will host the annual qualifying round Thursday for the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival Lobster Roll Eating Competition.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. The 11 contestants who eat the most hot dogs during the qualifying round will secure a spot in the fourth annual lobster roll competition, which is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 — the second day of the 2013 Seafood Festival.

Thursday is the only qualifying round for the competition, and according to the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce, there are no open spots for the event.

The top prize in the lobster roll competition, which annually features 12 contestants, is $600 as well as a guaranteed berth in next year's competition. The second place winner takes home $250, and third place wins $150.
