New Specialty Burger, Whiskey Bar Coming to Hampton Beach

The 2014 summer season is expected to bring another batch of progress to Hampton Beach, and some of the change has already started because a new restaurant has announced that it will open on May 1.

The Goat, a specialty burger and whiskey bar, will open in the former Happy Clam Bar and Grille building at the corner of L Street and Ashworth Avenue after an extensive renovation and remodel to the current structure.

"We hope to provide Hampton Beach with quality service, a fun and creative menu, and a relaxed and fun addition to the world famous night life," posted the business on its Facebook page. "We can't wait to start our first season with all of you."

The business is owned by Al Fleury, who also owns Wally's Pub and Bernie's Beach Bar. Fleury couldn't immediately be reached for comment, although he has posted about his new venture on Facebook.

"This all stems from the loyal patrons, great friends, outstanding staff, and our overwhelming love for the beach community," wrote Fleury. "Thanks again and I hope you get to stop by this May."

Fleury has experience rehabilitating Hampton Beach buildings, as he transformed the heavily water-damaged La Bec Rouge into the outdoor entertainment-focused Bernie's before the 2013 summer season.

The Goat will be a "two story restaurant equipped with a balcony bar and a large patio" and a "completely different feel" than Bernie's, according to the business.
