Blue Lobster Head Brewer Switch Stirs Controversy

The Hampton beer company and one of its creative leaders have reached a disharmonious end, much to the dismay of many local residents.

UPDATE (1:16 p.m.): David Sakolsky has spoken to Patch about how and why he thinks he was terminated as head brewer at Blue Lobster Brewing Company on Monday.

ORIGINAL STORY (5:30 a.m.): Hampton-based Blue Lobster Brewing Company and head brewer David Sakolsky have each announced that Sakolsky is no longer with the company.

The company and the brewer announced the news Monday night in multiple social media posts, which led to hundreds of disappointed and angry comments from local residents and Blue Lobster customers.

Owners Michael and Roberta Benoit couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Blue Lobster opened in the Seacoast Plaza at 845 Lafayette Road in fall 2012 to much fanfare and warm response from the community, which has seen a lot of growth recently in its craft beer industry.

Ian Browne has been chosen as the replacement for Sakolsky, who has hinted on Facebook that he may have a new opportunity in the near future. Browne answered the phone at Blue Lobster Tuesday, although he said it was "not my place to say" anything about the reason why the company decided to cut ties with Sakolsky.

"I am not the one who made that decision," said Browne, deferring comment to Michael Benoit.
