'Lone Survivor' Chronicles Mission Involving Local Soldier Dan Healy

Dan Healy was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for his actions.

"Lone Survivor," a Mark Wahlberg movie set for release Fri., Jan. 10, chronicles a 2005 rescue mission in Afghanistan involving Dan Healy, a Navy SEAL from Exeter.

Healy, 36, was aboard a helicopter on its way to assist troops under fire when insurgents shot it down. He was one of eight SEALs killed in the crash.

Healy graduated from Exeter High School in 1986. A memorial was built for him at the Exeter Recreation Complex.

Healy is played by actor Dan Bilzerian in the movie. The title of the film refers to Marcus Luttrell, the one SEAL who survived the attack.

Healy was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star.
