Pie Palooza in Hampton

Pie Palooza on Sunday also features a pie eating contest. One of the contenders is none other than restaurateur "Desi" Lanio, Hampton's unofficial Ambassador of Good Times.

The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting what's being celebrated as the First Annual Pie Palooza.

This sweet event, sponsored by the Bean Insurance Agency, is scheduled for Sunday, April 6, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The venue is the Saint James Lodge, 77 Tide Mill Road, Hampton.

Pie Palooza will also feature a pie eating contest (Selectmen Phil Bean and Jim Wadell, along with Hampton Beach Area Commission Chairman John Nyhan, and 401 Tavern owner Desi Lanio, according to the program.)

Over a dozen sweet and savory pies will be available for sampling, according to the Hampton chamber.

Admission is $8, and children under 10 are admitted free and must be accompanied by an adult. Complimentary coffee is available.
