Enrich your knowledge of the fascinating history of tavernkeeping in colonial Hampton, in which "craft" beer played a major role, as you tour the new Smuttynose Brewery on Towle Farm Road in Hampton, or one of the other craft breweries making their homes in the NH seacoast area.

"A Meet and Suitable Person," written by local author Cheryl Lassiter, depicts the life and times of the 17 men and 6 women who kept Hampton's taverns during the colonial period.
