During the month of March, the latest work of local Photographer Ellen Gunst will be displayed at Art
Experience. This exhibition focuses on a series of images which speak of a photographic journey of a traveler and the “cairn’s” left behind marking the places last visited. The building of stone cairns, or art of stone piling, has been prevalent throughout the world. Their meaning is debatable. Hikers use cairns to mark a trail, while mountain climbers bring a rock from on-high as a token to
Mother Nature at the end of their journey. Today’s cairn enthusiasts celebrate the grace and serene beauty of these
stone towers and use them both as garden monuments and as indoor décor as well. While the focus of this exhibit is on cairns, Ellen will also be displaying other film captured, hand printed silver gelatin prints (black and white) from her other portfolios.
On Thursday Evening March 22nd from 6-8, Ellen will make a special appearance at the gallery. Ellen will be
speaking to her understanding of cairns through her photographs and will also make a presentation on her own unique photographic techniques. As a special treat….after the presentation you will be able to build your own cairn with the many rocks and stones Ellen has gathered.

More About Art Experience
Marilyn Rishkofski has been involved in the world of art since 1982. Today, at her framing shop and art gallery in downtown Hampton, she sells both original paintings and limited-edition prints. The shop offers art framing, needlework framing, picture lights, gifts and mirrors.
In addition to her art consulting, Rishkofski holds workshops at the shop and hosts artist receptions with the opportunity to meet nationally known artists.
The Art Experience has access to a secondary market for “sold out” prints. Customers who have something particular that interests them can let Rishkofski know so she can contact the customers if an opportunity to purchases arises.
