Breaking: Man Injured in North Hampton Fire Dies »
Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

About this column:

"Photo of the Day" is a daily column that features the work of some of the area's talented shooters.
Today's Photo of the Day is more of an uplifting story depicted in a photograph. The above shot was shared Monday on the Hampton Beach - "Official" Facebook page, and the description included with it sums up the story behind the image nicely: [Sunday], a lady come into the Chamber office who had just lost her purse, containing identification, CC and about $200 in cash. As she was making the report and trying to get her daughter to cancel the CC, she was visibly upset. A family walked in and the young man held up a purse and said is this it? She was overjoyed. He had found it on the sidewalk …
This photo of the top graduating seniors at Winnacunnet High School was submitted by the high school on Friday. Pictured here from left to right are Carine Wong, Chris Reilly, Alexa Pelletier, Mike Karpel, Heather Laroche, Alex Howard, Hannah Gasperoni, Andrew Hamel and Carleen Wong. They're all officially graduates, following Friday's commencement ceremony. Congratulations, seniors! Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? This photo was submitted via our Facebook page by Diane Wake. If I'm not mistaken, it's her third appearance in Photo of the Day in the past week! This time, her subject was not a gathering of turtles, or a bunny, but a simple iris. "After the rain, comes the iris," Wake wrote in the note accompanying her photo. In that case, we'll likely be seeing a lot more of them based on the soaking we've experienced this week. Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? This photo was submitted via our Facebook page by Patricia Baker. It was taken on Tuesday night at sunset at Castaways on the deck at Seabrook Beach. "So beautiful (sigh)," Baker wrote. We concur! This photo was submitted by Kathy Braun of Fairfield, Conn., who was visiting the area over the weekend. "I'm up from CT visiting friends in North Hampton, and it was turning into a rain-out, but today ended up so nice I went to North Hampton Beach and saw some surfers taking in the great wild waves from Hurricane Andrea. Hope you like the pic." Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
This photo was submitted last week by A. Hansen "Our backyard blooms... irises and rhododendrons," she explained. It's one of several shots of flowers we've received in recent days, and we'll have another one for you later this week. Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? Diane Wake, who sent us a great photo of some turtles last week, sent us this photo of a bunny. "Cuteness overload," she said in a note posted on Hampton-North Hampton Patch's Facebook page. Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com.
Shirleen Robertson sent us this photo. Here's what she had to say about her shot: "I took this picture of a tree trunk where the tree had snapped off. I just wondered how many of your readers could pick out the bird of wood. Let me know if you see it." Do you see it? If so, let us know in the comments field below. Chip Moynihan sent us this terrific photo that he shot last week just north of Boar's Head. Keep those photos coming, Hampton and North Hampton! Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com.
Today's photo of a sunset at North Beach was sent to us by Keith Sparks. Fantastic photo, Keith! Thanks for sending it along. Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
Diane Wake sent us this terrific shot of some turtles on a rock on the Taylor River right outside her back porch. She actually sent it last Wednesday, so we apologize for taking so long to run it – we had a ton of warm weather photos we had to get in first!  Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
In the midst of Friday's hot, hot, heat, Chris McCarthy sent us these photos of her husband John McCarthy beating the heat. Here's what she had to say about the images: "After a long, HOT day of making our yard beautiful, John sure knows how to drop the temp ... from 100 to 60 in 3 seconds." For easier viewing, we've also edited all three photos together into one combined, chronological image. Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? Our friend Shirleen Robertson submitted this beautiful photo of a blooming purple flower, her second Photo of the Day this week. Here's what she had to say about her shot: "I don't know about you, but I am so looking forward to the warm weather for the next few days. The flowers are blooming and it really looks like summer is around the corner." Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
Patricia Baker submitted this great photo via Hampton-North Hampton Patch's Facebook page. Here's what she had to say about her image: "Even though it's raining, the imagination is always working at full speed. As the raindrops land they are looking like diamonds on display." Yes, we know Memorial Day has already passed. But we wanted to be sure to share this great photo that Shirleen Robertson sent us over the holiday weekend.  Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
This great animal photo from Nancy Rand desperately needs a caption — so give it one! Post your ideas in the comments section!     Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
Just about everyone I've talked to has said it, so it's pretty fitting that today's Photo of the Day (by Diane Wake) showcases a member of the animal community also begging for a little bit of sun this Memorial Day weekend. In addition to the timing of this photo being perfect, there are so many other things to love about the image. What's yours?     Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? The stormy conditions may not have been ideal for picture-taking, although that didn't stop Jacqui (Graham) Kennedy on Wednesday. She captured many great images, including this hazy shot of Boar's Head.   Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
Sometimes sad can be beautiful, and Chris McCarthy's newest Photo of the Day proves just that. I find it pretty fascinating that bleeding hearts and other things with really striking shapes occur naturally. Great image!   Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? Sometimes, Photo of the Day is art imitating art, such as this shot by Patricia Baker of a piece of artwork she saw while in Newburyport, Mass. Anyone know who the artist is? It's a pretty great piece, and I'd love to give them a little shout-out.     Have a picture you'd like to see featured as our Photo of the Day? E-mail it to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com!
