Avellino's Italian Kitchen & Deli Opens

When you’re hungry, point your car in the direction of Avellino’s Italian Kitchen & Deli in The Stratham Plaza at 72 Portsmouth Ave.(formerly Valerio’s Kitchen).  New owners, Cathy and Mark Standring, and Karimah Nabulsi are cutting the ribbon on Friday, February 1st at 10:30 a.m. and opening the doors to a culinary world filled with authentic Italian and Lebanese taste delights.

“I’ve always loved feeding people and entertaining, taking care of every detail. I’ve worked in restaurants and done catering so this was the next step for me, “ Cathy said as she poured the Secret Sauce on an Italian All the Way sandwich. “When this opportunity came up, I couldn’t say no!” Her husband Mark agrees, “Everyone loves Cathy and she’s a fantastic cook! Avellino’s will showcase all her talents.”

And Karimah, owner of Karimah’s Kitchen,  brings her authentic Lebanese cuisine to the menu which includes Fried Eggplant Fatoush, Falafel with Tahini Sauce, along with Hummus, and Tabouleh for starters. Everything is made each day with fresh, hand-chopped ingredients, blended with aromatic Mediterranean spices and served with locally baked pita bread. “I love preparing and serving great food. I have had a passion for this since I was a young girl cooking in my mother’s kitchen. It is a great joy for me not only to cook but also to teach how to prepare delicious meals.”  Karimah is now accepting reservations for her cooking classes.

So, bring your bleary-eyed morning-self to Avellino’s for a steaming hot cup of coffee, tea, or espresso and pair it up with a breakfast sandwich or one of the other morning delights in the bakery case. Stop in for lunch and fall in tummy-love with the world class salad bar, soul-soothing soups, premium imported meats, daily hot entrees, Karimah’s Falafel and fresh-made Hummus and Tabouleh wraps, and Fried Eggplant Fatoush. Thinking about dinner? Have the Avellino’s team pack up a daily special, take it home, and re-heat. No fuss. No dishes.

Got a sweet tooth? Try one of the Toll House Cannoli Cups. Yes, it is as wonderful as it sounds!  Bill DaGiau, owner of Valerio’s, created it for his restaurant and now he is passing down the lock-and-key recipe to Cathy.

Need catering? Just tell them what, where, and how many people. From corporate platters to family dinners – Italian or Lebanese - to 3 or 6 foot subs, you are just one call away from dazzling your friends, family, and co-workers.

Cathy, Mark, and Karimah are ready to open the doors to old and new friends.  “We hope to see you all at the ribbon-cutting at 10:30 on Friday morning. We’ll be serving complimentary coffee and some special treats, as well as taking orders. As our gift to you for trying us, we’ll take ten percent off any lunch order on opening day!”

I know! I love it, too! Karimah's food is so delicious!. Next time be sure to try one of Cathy's sandwiches. She makes one with roasted red peppers, mozz, and pesto. YUM!
