VIDEO: Residents Surprised at Beach Threat, Want Better Notices

Unhappy residents talk about subpar warnings about unsafe bacteria in North Hampton State Beach waters, and how notifications could improve.

Individuals visiting North Hampton State Beach on Tuesday said they were shocked to learn that the waters their children were playing in may have posed a mild health risk.

, and a temporary advisory that ran through Tuesday was put out in order to alert residents of the problem.

Many residents said Tuesday, though, that they didn't feel the advisory was well advertised, as only one sign had been posted by the beach's bathrooms.

A notice was also posted on the state Department of Environmental Services website.

Some residents suggested better signage throughout the beach, because not everyone stops at the bathrooms before entering the water.

Almost every individual suggested the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation should put notices on the parking meters because visitors would see the information before paying for parking, as well as at entrances to the beach.
