Mother Identifies Woman Killed in Greenland Standoff
Brittany Tibbetts was Cullen Mutrie's estranged girlfriend.
The woman found dead in a Greenland home on Friday following a standoff with police was Brittany Tibbetts, 26, of Berwick, Maine, her mother told WCSH-TV.
The attorney general's office still hasn't officially identified the woman, but Donna Tibbetts told WCSH that police informed her Friday that her daughter had been killed. She said her daughter had been dating Cullen Mutrie, but they recently broke up. Brittany returned to the home this week out of concern for Mutrie's well-being.
Mutrie reportedly shot and killed Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney and wounded four other officers on Thursday night. He and Tibbetts were found dead of gunshot wounds around 2 a.m. Friday in Cullen's 517 Post Road home. It isn't clear at this point whether it was a murder-suicide or a double suicide.
Autopsies on Mutrie and Tibbetts are expected to be conducted on Saturday in Concord.
