Fire Damages Hampton Condo Complex

The blaze was reported at Hampton Towne Estates around 10:20 a.m. Friday.

No one was injured in at the Hampton Towne Estates condo complex on Friday morning.

The initial call for a fire alarm activation at 37 Towle Farm Road came in around 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from the garage at Unit #5, Hampton Fire Prevention Officer Scott Steele said.

Firefighters were at the scene within minutes, he said, and made entry to the unattached garage. He said the fire was still in its early stages, and they were able to knock it down quickly.

Steele said the fire started in the northeast corner of the garage, but the cause remains undetermined.

Several residents evacuated their condos due to the fire alarm activation, but they were allowed back inside shortly thereafter. Steele said the residents of Unit #5 were not home at the time of the fire.

He said no firefighters or residents suffered any injuries in the blaze, and smoke and fire damage was limited to the garage and did not spread to the condo complex.
