If you were a hot dog, the 401 Tavern in Hampton was not the best place to be on Tuesday night.

That's because Tuesday was the qualifying round for the third annual Lobster Roll Eating Contest. And they save the good stuff for the finals. In place of lobster, the contestants at the 401 Tavern were crushing hot dogs – lots of hot dogs.

Here's an image gallery from the competition. The top eaters from Tuesday's qualifying round will now go on to compete in the official Lobster Roll Eating Contest on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. as part of the annual Hampton Beach Seafood Festival.

Those winners are: Sao Young, Chris Thurston, Jason Vaughn, Steve Venbturelli, Heidi Camacho, Mike Fournier, Craig Hensen, Matthew Gircys, Nate DeProfio, Daniel Kaelblein, Ed Bush, Stephen Schubert, Ty Chum, Thomas Chaput and Ryan Boles.
